Planning a vacation should be exciting – not overwhelming – but sometimes it is just that. Often the stress goes a little like this…
Step 1 – Knowing you want to go on a vacation, relax & enjoy time away from your day to day life.
Step 2 – Zero idea where to go, what to do, how to find the best prices, deals & locations
Step 3 – Get overwhelmed and give up or settle on something less than desired
Sound about right? Let’s chat through a few quick and easy steps to help prepare you to approach the vacation planning process in a way that will make the entire process stress-free and most of all fun.
Step 1 – Start Planning Early
The sooner you start planning, the more options you have. Whether it’s booking flights, choosing accommodations, or securing those hard-to-get theme park reservations, planning ahead gives you flexibility and the best chance to secure your most desired options without having to settle.
Step 2 – Set A Realistic Budget
One of the biggest stressors in vacation planning is overspending. Create a clear budget that includes all major expenses like flights, accommodations, meals, and activities. Be sure to leave room for unexpected costs or splurges so there are no surprises later.
Step 3 – Figure Out When You Want To Travel
So often I get clients that come to me and simply say “2024” or “Winter” or even “I am not picky, whenever works for us”. While I love the flexibility, we really do need to have dates narrowed down. I am more than happy to help you pick dates based off of the desired trip you want to take, but only you know your calendar of what works (or more importantly doesn’t work). So knowing your “when” helps everything else fall into place. After all, we can’t quote a destination without check in and check out dates.
Step 4 – Work With A Travel Advisor
Okayyyyy- I know, shameless plug. But! Travel advisors take the hassle out of planning by handling the details for you. From finding the best deals to creating a custom itinerary, we save you time and ensure you get the most out of your vacation without lifting a finger. We always have your best interest at heart and should any issues arise you have 1 point person to handle everything for you!
Step 5 – Prioritize Your Must-Do Experiences
Identify your top priorities for the trip, whether it’s visiting a specific landmark, trying local cuisine, or enjoying a particular activity. This will help focus your planning on what truly matters, while still leaving room for spontaneity. This also helps us to design your budget in a way that prioritizes what matters most and what can be a bit more flexible.
Following these tips will help you stay on track and enjoy the anticipation of your vacation without the usual planning headaches.
